What is SOTL?

  • Advances the practice of teaching at both personal and curriculum levels
  • Improves student learning outcomes
  • Assists in professional development, promotional prospects and personal practice


How can you become a scholar of L&T?

  • Attend UNSW and faculty learning and teaching workshops and seminars
  • Get involved in your department or school learning and teaching meetings
  • Join the MedEd Interest Group
  • Network with colleagues interested in learning and teaching - through your school, the faculty and the uni
  • Develop your own scholarly practice by using evidence to further your teaching skills and in curricular design
  • Evaluate your own teaching performance and plan to improve on this and re-evaluate
  • Evaluate changes in your curriculum or teaching or innovations in practice
  • Start a research project
  • Share and disseminate your theories, practice and evaluations - advice on publishing coming soon

Learning and Teaching @UNSW holds a comprehensive borrowing library on learning and teaching at its Learning and Teaching Commons on level 4 of the Matthews Building. The room is open to all for informal studying, meetings etc. Contact  L&T@UNSW on 9385 5989 or just drop in.
