Sample size and power calculations are essential parts of planning a scientific study. We will: introduce basic principles of precision-based and power-based sample size calculations; demonstrate sample size calculations for various outcome types in single-sample and multi-group studies; discuss related issues, such as multiple comparisons; highlight some useful R packages.

- Complex power calculations via simulation

Morning and afternoon tea and lunch are included in the course fee.
