Lateral Modulation of Striatal Projection Systems: First Step Towards Information Patterning and Organised Behaviour

Dr Bertran-Gonzalez is currently a junior team leader and ARC DECRA Fellow at the University of New South Wales. He obtained his BA (2006) and Masters in Biomedical Research (2007) from the University Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona) and received his PhD in Neuroscience from the University Pierre and Marie Curie (Paris) in May 2010. In October 2010 he moved to Australia to undertake postdoctoral training under the direction of NHMRC Senior Principal Research Fellow Prof Bernard Balleine at the University of Sydney. In October 2012, he took up a postdoctoral position at the University of Queensland to establish himself as an independent, self-directed researcher within the Clem Jones Centre for Ageing Dementia Research directed by Prof Jürgen Götz. In late 2015, he was awarded an ARC DECRA Fellowship and consequently moved to UNSW in September 2016. He currently leads an independent research program on basal ganglia contributions to decision-making and goal-directed action.
