Presenter: Nicolette Birbara
Title: Virtual learning resources for anatomy education: The learner, learning and instructional design.
Bio: Nicolette is a PhD candidate in the School of Medical Sciences at UNSW approaching the end of her candidature. The focus of her PhD is the use of immersive technologies such as virtual reality to develop virtual learning resources (VLRs) for medical education, specifically the discipline of anatomy. She is investigating the impact of VLRs on both the learner and learning as well as factors to consider in their instructional design for anatomy education. Nicolette has published some of her PhD work as well as presented much of it at both national and international conferences. She has also published in the area of three-dimensional (3D) modelling and printing technology to produce patient-specific 3D mitral valve models, for application in areas such as preoperative surgical planning, education and speciality training.
